I don't think we'll be closing that forum, necessarily, but I will do my level best to keep an eye on it. This forum has always been about keeping things as open as possible, and as far as I can tell, I'd like to keep it that way (for better or worse).
Don't worry, though, any big announcements or words from the folks in charge will definitely be visible to all, one way or another.

Why do my posts still disappear into thin air? I've stopped posting on a couple of threads in scribblings because of this. I type out a fascinating and intelligent piece................well, I type something out anyway, and off it goes never to be seen again.
I've reported it so many times I feel like a stalker.
Also I can't reply to anyone's PM's at all. I have to start a new one up all the time.
I also think, as previously mentioned that it's a good idea for Announcements just to be used by mods and admins.
Very often I don't look there just because I assume it will someone else just saying hello.

It really is bizarre. There's a name that comes up on Technical assistance and when I click it there's no post.
I've put one of my own regarding changing my e mail address but I've got no response...every time I alter it in my profile it goes back to the previous one, which I don't use anymore.
Help.

Tito, a lot of times, I see your posts getting caught up in the spam filter (reason unknown, unfortunately) but I do always free them from there. I'll see if I can do anything about that. It's nothing against you, I assure you

The mystery name you see is a bug in how the database keeps its records. Not being a programmer, I can't give you any further details, but I see it also. It happens when a spambot gets caught by the filter. It goes away when someone posts a newer post in that forum.
Can you PM me with the email address you'd like to use? Maybe I can get it changed (and hopefully, HOPEFULLY, the change will take)

this thread makes me sad But thankyou to gjhsu for all your hard work. The lack of being able to edit posts after a while is the thing that bugs me most. There's stuff I've written (and would write) that's really quite personal and sometimes I change my mind later on and want to delete or alter it.

wow thanks for cleaning the announcements G!
and actually i wouldn't see making the announcements section admin only as a restrictive or censoring kinda thing... if someone needed something put there they could message an admin... tho t.b.h. i have no idea what i would ever need to announce, lol
responding to the announcements would be tricky tho i guess... unless you can allow threads to be only started by some folks and let anyone respond. hm i dunno.

I'm not able to explain why you aren't able to edit your posts. It seems some people are able, and others aren't, but there's no difference between the user accounts. *grumble*
